Happy Sunday!

On the first Friday of every month, we have gathered in our Adoration Chapel to pray for priestly vocations with a holy rosary and the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We will continue this devotion on July 5th at 5:00pm and also invite high school and college age men for an evening hosted by seminarian Nathan Blanchard in Santa Maria Hall from 6:00pm-8:30pm.

After receiving a prayer book called Mother’s Love I came across this prayer to beg for a Son’s Vocation to the Priesthood. Notice the complete and heartwarming trust of a mother’s prayer. Adapt it to your intentions.

“O Heart of Jesus, Heart of our great High Priest, Your ardent desire for worthy priests and pastors impelled You to utter the words, “Beg the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into His vineyard!” Complying with Your injunction, I pray to You to send us pastors, priests, and teachers, as zealous, as devout, and as wise as Your heart desires them to be. The harvest is great! Behold, O Lord, how many would listen to Your word and would love You accordingly, were it announced to them in the right way! Send laborers!

How happy should I be if You would make me the mother of one! True, I am but a poor sinner, unworthy of so high a privilege. But, O my God, think not of my sins. Be mindful only of the needs of Your Church. Remember how many sinners are to be converted, how many devout souls to be led on to perfection, how many perfect ones to be guided in the road of perseverance. Be, then, a good Father and give to Your Church what she so much needs. Deign to hear my supplication, which I make from a humble and contrite heart. Gladly will I undertake the special care that the training of such a child would require, and, for love of You, I will make every sacrifice that his education will impose upon me. I ask nothing for myself. I desire only Your glory and the salvation of souls. My motherly wish is that he will eagerly and of his own choice desire to give himself entirely to Your service as a priest.

Holy Mother of Jesus, Mother of my Savior, I have recourse to you. I recommend to your heart this my desire, placing my resolution and my offering in your hands. Be then my Mediatrix with your Divine Son. Obtain from His Heart that for which my soul so ardently sighs. Amen.”

13º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

¡Feliz domingo!

El primer viernes de cada mes nos hemos reunido en nuestra Capilla de Adoración para orar por las vocaciones sacerdotales con el santo rosario y las Letanías del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús. Contin- uaremos con esta devoción el 5 de julio a las 5:00 p. m. y también invitaremos a hombres de secundaria y universidad a una velada organizada por el seminarista Nathan Blanchard en el Salón Santa María de 6:00 p. m. a 8:30 p. m. Después de recibir un libro de oraciones llamado Amor de Madre, encontré esta oración para rogar por la vocación de un Hijo al Sacerdocio. Note la confianza total y reconfortante de la oración de una madre. Adáptalo a tus intenciones.

“Oh Corazón de Jesús, Corazón de nuestro gran Sumo Sacerdote, Tu ardiente deseo de tener sacer- dotes y pastores dignos Te impulsó a pronunciar las palabras: “¡Ruega al Señor de la mies que envíe obreros a Su viña!” Cumpliendo con Tu mandato, te ruego que nos envíes pastores, sacerdotes y maestros, tan celosos, tan devotos y tan sabios como Tu corazón desea que sean. ¡La cosecha es ge- nial! He aquí, oh Señor, ¡cuántos escucharían tu palabra y te amarían en consecuencia, si se les anun- ciara de la manera correcta! ¡Envía trabajadores!

¡Qué feliz sería si me hicieras madre de uno! Es cierto que no soy más que un pobre pecador, indigno de tan alto privilegio. Pero, oh Dios mío, no pienses en mis pecados. Sed conscientes sólo de las necesidades de Tu Iglesia. Acordaos de cuántos pecadores hay que convertir, cuántas almas devotas hay que conducir a la perfección, cuántas perfectas hay que guiar por el camino de la perseverancia. Sé, pues, un buen Padre y dale a Tu Iglesia lo que tanto necesita. Dígnate escuchar mi súplica, que hago con corazón humilde y contrito. Con mucho gusto asumiré los cuidados especiales que re- queriría la educación de tal niño y, por amor a Ti, haré todos los sacrificios que su educación me im- ponga. No pido nada para mí. Sólo deseo Tu gloria y la salvación de las almas. Mi deseo maternal es que él, con afán y por elección propia, desee entregarse enteramente a Tu servicio como sacerdote.

Santa Madre de Jesús, Madre de mi Salvador, a ti recurro. Encomiendo a tu corazón este mi deseo, poniendo en tus manos mi resolución y mi ofrecimiento. Sé entonces mi Mediadora con tu Divino Hijo. Obten de Su Corazón aquello por lo que mi alma tan ardientemente suspira. Amén."
