Happy Mother’s Day!

On this second Sunday in May, we observe a short day to honor and pray for our mothers. I love the tradition of processing into the church with our Blessed Mother Mary and allowing our own mothers of the parish to follow her and ask for her intercession. Today is special because this is a time to give thanks to God for the gift of human life.

It was through her love that she carried us in her womb for approximately nine months and sacrificed so much that we can spend a lifetime of gratitude.

I am painfully aware this day is also difficult for some mothers, including those who have lost a child, those who have lost or are estranged from their own mothers, and those who are struggling or unable to have a child and so many other situations in life. I pray for you and acknowledge this pain and want you to know you are loved. My prayer is that you be filled with the Lord’s peace and comfort by His presence on what you find challenging and difficult. Surrender all the hurt, sorrow, and pain to the Lord.

As we continue to celebrate the month of our Blessed Virgin Mary, pray for mothers and the gift of their vocation.

7º domingo de Pascua

¡Feliz día de la madre!

En este segundo domingo de mayo, observamos un día corto para honrar y orar por nuestras madres. Me encanta la tradición de entrar en procesión a la iglesia con nuestra Santísima Madre María y permitir que nuestras propias madres de la parroquia la sigan y pidan su intercesión. Hoy es especial porque es un momento para dar gracias a Dios por el don de la vida humana. Fue a través de su amor que nos llevó en su vientre durante aproximadamente nueve meses y sacrificó tanto que podemos pasar toda una vida de gratitud.

Soy dolorosamente consciente de que este día también es difícil para algunas madres, incluidas aquellas que han perdido un hijo, aquellas que han perdido a sus propias madres o están separadas de ellas, y aquellas que luchan o no pueden tener un hijo y tantas otras situaciones en vida. Oro por ti y reconozco este dolor y quiero que sepas que eres amado. Mi oración es que usted se llene de la paz y el consuelo del Señor por Su presencia en lo que le resulte desafiante y difícil. Entrega todo el dolor, la tristeza y el dolor al Señor.

Mientras continuamos celebrando el mes de nuestra Santísima Virgen María, oremos por las madres y el don de su vocación.
