Happy Sunday!

After celebrating the amazing feasts after Pentecost, we adjust to ordinary time, meaning no particular aspect of the mystery of Christ is celebrated, but rather the mystery of Christ is honored in its fullness, especially on Sundays. This is the trajectory of our week and most important, our fruit and source of our faith.

Summer schedules tend to shift our busyness and provide a different pace in prayer. Each Sunday is the first day of the week that marks the Resurrection of the Lord and when creation was complete.

Every month I meet with my priest fraternal group known as Jesus Caritas. We follow a format of praying before the Blessed Sacrament in Holy Hour, sharing a certain aspect of priestly life, pray vespers together, and share a meal in fellowship. This is an organic development of priest friendships and confident trust in each other. Our meeting place depends on our assignment. The group consists of Fr. Chad King at St. Gabriel the Archangel in Cave Creek, Fr. Dan Vanyo at El Cristo Rey Chapel in the Grand Canyon, Fr. Chris Axline at St. Mary Magdalene in Gilbert and Father Kevin Penkalski, a new chaplain at Saint John Paul II High School in Avondale. My heart is full of gratitude for priests in my life who have been such a huge support in fraternity. You will not find a more eclectic group, but the love of the heart of Jesus unites us as brother priests. May Christ bless you and keep you safe this summer! Father Cruz

10º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

¡Feliz domingo!

Después de celebrar las asombrosas fiestas después de Pentecostés, nos adaptamos al tiempo ordinario, es decir, no se celebra ningún aspecto particular del misterio de Cristo, sino que se honra el misterio de Cristo en su plenitud, especialmente los domingos. Esta es la trayectoria de nuestra semana y lo más importante, nuestro fruto y fuente de nuestra fe.

Los horarios de verano tienden a cambiar nuestro ajetreo y proporcionar un ritmo diferente en la oración. Cada domingo es el primer día de la semana que marca la Resurrección del Señor y cuando se completó la creación.

Cada mes me reúno con mi grupo fraternal de sacerdotes conocido como Jesús Caritas. Seguimos un formato de oración ante el Santísimo Sacramento en la Hora Santa, compartiendo un cierto aspecto de la vida sacerdotal, rezamos vísperas juntos y compartimos una comida en comunión. Este es un desarrollo orgánico de amistades entre sacerdotes y de confianza mutua. Nuestro lugar de encuentro depende de nuestra misión. El grupo está formado por el P. Chad King en San Gabriel Arcángel en Cave Creek, el P. Dan Vanyo en la Capilla El Cristo Rey en el Gran Cañón, el P. Chris Axline en St. Mary Magdalene en Gilbert y el padre Kevin Penkalski, un nuevo capellán de la escuela secundaria Saint John Paul II en Avondale. Mi corazón está lleno de gratitud por los sacerdotes en mi vida que han sido un gran apoyo en la fraternidad. No encontrarás un grupo más ecléctico, pero el amor del corazón de Jesús nos une como hermanos sacerdotes. ¡Que Cristo te bendiga y te mantenga a salvo este verano! Padre Cruz
