Happy Solemnity of Christ the King!

Ever since we began our customary tradition here at St. Joan of Arc with a Eucharistic Procession on this Sunday of Christ the King, I have desired to continue this bold proclamation to the streets. One highlight while I was away from Saint Joan of Arc was taking our Blessed Lord into the streets of a secular campus of Arizona State University. Almost 100 years later we continue to respond to the established feast day by Pope Pius XI in 1925 as an antidote to secularism. This public university and many other universities tend to imagine a way of life which leaves God out of man’s thinking and organizes a life as if God does not exist.

On this Solemnity, we intend to proclaim in a striking and powerful manner Christ's royalty over our hearts, our families, our society, our governments and our very own neighborhood with our Eucharistic Procession of the Blessed Sacrament! We do this because God is Creator of the Universe and ruler of all things created. By His Precious Blood, He redeemed the world and sanctified humanity by His life, death and resurrection. He has claimed us as His own possession. How fitting for us to give homage to our Lord and King!

His kingship has reached our nation and our city. The parish of St. Joan of Arc exists to foster an encounter of poor souls to pure souls through the sacraments. As the Collect prayer reads: Almighty ever-living God, whose will is to restore all things in your beloved Son, the King of the universe, grant, we pray, that the whole creation, set free from slavery, may render your majesty service and ceaselessly proclaim your praise. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

¡Feliz Solemnidad de Cristo Rey!

Desde que comenzamos nuestra tradición habitual aquí en Santa Juana de Arco con una Procesión Eucarística en este domingo de Cristo Rey, he deseado continuar esta audaz proclamación en las calles. Una bendición mientras estuve lejos de Santa Juana de Arco fue la procesión con nuestro Bendito Señor por las calles de un campus secular de la Universidad Estatal de Arizona en Tempe. Casi 100 años después seguimos respondiendo a la fiesta establecida por el Papa Pío XI en 1925 como antídoto contra el secularismo. Esta universidad pública y muchas otras universidades enseñan a imaginar una forma de vida que deja a Dios fuera del pensamiento del hombre y organiza una vida como si Dios no existiera. Esto confunde aún más nuestras mentes y muchos estudiantes no piensan por sí mismos. Destruye familias y amistades.

¡En esta Solemnidad, pretendemos proclamar de manera poderosa la realeza de Cristo sobre nuestros corazones, nuestras familias, nuestra sociedad, nuestros gobiernos y nuestro propio vecindario con nuestra Procesión Eucarística del Santísimo Sacramento! Hacemos esto porque Dios es el Creador del Universo y gobernante de todas las cosas creadas. Por Su Preciosa Sangre, redimió al mundo y santificó a la humanidad con Su vida, muerte y resurrección. Él nos ha reclamado como su propia posesión. ¡Qué apropiado para nosotros rendir homenaje a nuestro Señor y Rey!

Su realeza ha llegado a nuestra nación y a nuestra ciudad. La parroquia de Santa Juana de Arco existe para fomentar un encuentro de almas pobres con almas puras a través de los sacramentos. Como dice la oración colecta: Dios todopoderoso y siempre vivo, cuya voluntad es restaurar todas las cosas en tu amado Hijo, el Rey del universo, concede, te rogamos, que toda la creación, liberada de la esclavitud, pueda rendir tu majestad servicio. y proclama sin cesar tu alabanza. Por nuestro Señor Jesucristo, tu Hijo, que vive y reina contigo en la unidad del Espíritu Santo, Dios, por los siglos de los siglos.
