Happy Father’s Day!

On this day we honor the men who faithfully lead households and I continue to be inspired by the many fathers in our parish. These men sow seeds of hope for their children, encourage forgiveness in the household, and teach in hidden ways to be a man of sacrifice that only a father knows how to do.

In the midst of the crisis of fatherhood in our culture, young men need to be encouraged and built up to one day be fathers who are guardians, leaders, and providers of their future households. Then the foundation is set for the grace to build off those good habits. To further overcome the obstacles of a Christian father, the faith matures with his willingness to be spiritually fathered by the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. When he values and desires a beloved bride, he commits to her without coercion, freely and wholeheartedly.

As for my fatherhood, I am convinced that our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ is the only answer to this life. In this life, my beloved flock calls me father. As a priest of Jesus Christ, I father souls to encounter our Blessed Lord through Baptism, Holy Eucharist, Confession, Holy Matrimony, and the Last Anointing of the Sick. These are the answers to life that lead us to eternal life. Through this obedience and sacrificial love, we stand up for all that is true, good, and beautiful.

We need more holy fathers in our world to defend against the distortions of our culture. What better place than the Church to develop a tender-hearted devotional life for the sake of the family. What better place to have true spiritual friendships and meet others seeking hope. Help me in praying for this building of our parish family to grow in holiness and value the sacred!

¡Feliz Día del Padre!

En este día honramos a los hombres que fielmente dirigen hogares y sigo inspirándome en los muchos padres de nuestra parroquia. Estos hombres siembran semillas de esperanza para sus hijos, alientan el perdón en el hogar y enseñan de manera oculta a ser un hombre de sacrificio que sólo un padre sabe hacer.

En medio de la crisis de la paternidad en nuestra cultura, los hombres jóvenes necesitan ser alentados y preparados para que algún día sean padres que sean guardianes, líderes y proveedores de sus futuros hogares. Entonces se sientan las bases para la gracia de construir sobre esos buenos hábitos. Para superar aún más los obstáculos de un padre cristiano, la fe madura con su voluntad de ser engendrado espiritualmente por los Sacramentos de la Reconciliación y la Sagrada Eucaristía. Cuando valora y desea a una novia amada, se compromete con ella sin coerción, libre y de todo corazón.

En cuanto a mi paternidad, estoy convencido de que nuestro Bendito Señor Jesucristo es la única respuesta a esta vida. En esta vida, mi amado rebaño, llámame padre. Como sacerdote de Jesucristo, soy padre de almas para que encuentren a nuestro Bendito Señor a través del Bautismo, la Sagrada Eucaristía, la Confesión, el Santo Matrimonio y la Última Unción de los Enfermos. Estas son las respuestas a la vida que nos llevan a la vida eterna. A través de esta obediencia y amor sacrificial, defendemos todo lo que es verdadero, bueno y hermoso.

Necesitamos más santos padres en nuestro mundo para defendernos de las distorsiones de nuestra cultura. Qué mejor lugar que la Iglesia para desarrollar una vida devocional de corazón tierno por el bien de la familia. Qué mejor lugar para tener verdaderas amistades espirituales y conocer a otras personas que buscan esperanza. ¡Ayúdame a orar para que este edificio de nuestra familia parroquial crezca en santidad y valore lo sagrado!
