Happy Sunday!

The church celebrates the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul on June 29th! On this day, Pope Leo XIV will impose the pallium, which is the ecclesiastical vestment worn by archbishops. It is worn around the neck of the archbishop that rests upon the chasuble. It is made of wool and is decorated with six crosses. The process of making this pallium begins on the feast of Saint Agnes on January 21st.

The pope blesses special lambs and uses the soft and pure wool of the lambs to create the pallium. This symbol is an extension of the juridical authorities bestowed upon by the Pope himself to these archbishops. Today you will see pictures of Pope Leo XIV and many archbishops receiving the pallium today. We celebrate this day as Pope Benedict XVI said: “Christian tradition has always considered Sts. Peter and Saint Paul to be inseparable: indeed, together, they represent the whole Gospel of Christ.”

Solemnidad de los Santos Pedro y Pablo, Apóstoles

¡Feliz domingo!

La iglesia celebra la Solemnidad de los Santos Pedro y Pablo el 29 de junio. Ese día, el Papa León XIV impondrá el palio, la vestimenta eclesiástica que visten los arzobispos. Se lleva alrededor del cuello del arzobispo, que descansa sobre la casulla. Está hecho de lana y decorado con seis cruces. El proceso de elaboración de este palio comienza el 21 de enero, festividad de Santa Inés.

El Papa bendice corderos especiales y utiliza su suave y pura lana para crear el palio. Este símbolo es una extensión de la autoridad jurídica que el propio Papa confirió a estos arzobispos. Hoy podrán ver imágenes del Papa León XIV y de muchos arzobispos recibiendo el palio. Celebramos este día como dijo el Papa Benedicto XVI: “La tradición cristiana siempre ha considerado a San Pedro y San Pablo inseparables: de hecho, juntos representan todo el Evangelio de Cristo”.
