Happy Palm Sunday!

As we draw near to the heart of our liturgical year, “Jesus' entry into Jerusalem manifested the coming of the kingdom that the King- Messiah was going to accomplish by the Passover of his Death and Resurrection. It is with the celebration of that entry on Palm Sunday that the Church's liturgy solemnly opens Holy Week.” -Catechism #560. It invites us to process with him into the mystery of our salvation.

On Palm Sunday, we bless palms to give witness to the faith in Jesus Christ, our King and his Paschal victory. Join us for the procession and Mass, processing as the crowds did, acclaiming Christ anew. This celebration unites the foretelling of his triumph with the proclamation of his suffering, preparing our hearts for the Sacred Triduum.

This week, the Holy Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil forms the culmination of the Paschal Mystery recalling Christ’s Last Supper as he instituted the Eucharist & priesthood, offered the sacrifice on the Cross, rested in the tomb and Resurrected. This sacred movement draws us into God’s redemptive love.

Stand close to the Lord during this Holy Week rather than at a distance like the crowds who later fled, but follow our Lord to the end. Your presence honors him who entered Jerusalem for us.

Feliz Domingo de Ramos!

A medida que nos acercamos al corazón de nuestro año litúrgico, “la entrada de Jesús en Jerusalén manifestaba la llegada del reino que el Rey-Mesías iba a realizar mediante la Pascua de su muerte y resurrección. Es con la celebración de esa entrada en el Domingo de Ramos que la liturgia de la Iglesia inaugura solemnemente la Semana Santa.” — Catecismo n.º 560. Nos invita a avanzar con él hacia el misterio de nuestra salvación.

Esta semana, el Triduo Pascual del Jueves Santo, el Viernes Santo y la Vigilia Pascual constituye la culminación del Misterio Pascual, recordando la Última Cena de Cristo, en la que instituyó la Eucaristía y el sacerdocio, ofreció el sacrificio en la Cruz, descansó en el sepulcro y resucitó. Este movimiento sagrado nos sumerge en el amor redentor de Dios.

Permaneced cerca del Señor durante esta Semana Santa, en lugar de manteneros a distancia como las multitudes que luego huyeron, y seguid a nuestro Señor hasta el final. Tu presencia honra a aquel que entró en Jerusalén por nosotros.
