Happy Sunday!

As we journey together in the faith with a new month to the calendar year, the Word of God inspires us to something higher, to fix our eyes not on what is passing but on what is eternal. We are reminded of this through Saint Paul’s letter to the Colossians 3:1-5, “If you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of what is above, not of what is on earth.”

This speaks directly to the heart of the family and individual heart striving to live in the light of the Resurrection. In a world surrounded by so much distraction, comparison, and material pursuit, God calls us to center our lives on Christ, which is love, mercy, humility, and holiness. Our homes must be reflections of heaven, where the things of God are treasured above anything else.

Our Blessed Lord gives us a parable of the rich young fool, a man who stored up earthly wealth but neglected the richness that matters most: being “rich in what matters to God.” How easy it can be to get caught in building barns of comfort, ambition, or control—even in our own family life. But the Gospel reminds us: it is not possessions or accomplishments that define a family, but faith, hope, love, and the daily decision to live for Christ. We can “put on the new self, which is being renewed, for knowledge, in the image of its creator.” In your parenting, your marriages, and your witness to the world, you are living signs of the Kingdom. When you pray together, forgive each other, serve the poor, or teach your children the faith, you are laying up treasure in heaven. These are the riches that last.

May you find strength in your unity, hope in your trials, and joy in Christ, who walks with your family each day. And may the Holy Family—Jesus, Mary, and Joseph—intercede for you always.

18° Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

¡Feliz domingo!

Mientras recorremos juntos el camino de la fe con un nuevo mes en el calendario, la Palabra de Dios nos inspira a algo más elevado, a fijar nuestra mirada no en lo que es pasajero, sino en lo que es eterno. Nos lo recuerda la carta de San Pablo a los Colosenses 3, 1-5: “Puesto que ustedes han resucitado con Cristo, busquen los bienes de arriba, donde está Cristo, sentado a la derecha de Dios. Pongan todo el corazón en los bienes del cielo, no en los de la tierra.” Esto habla directamente al corazón de la familia y al corazón individual que se esfuerza por vivir a la luz de la Resurrección. En un mundo rodeado de tantas distracciones, comparaciones y búsquedas materiales, Dios nos llama a centrar nuestras vidas en Cristo, que es amor, misericordia, humildad y santidad. Nuestros hogares deben ser reflejos del cielo, donde las cosas de Dios se atesoran por encima de cualquier otra cosa.

Nuestro Señor nos ofrece la parábola del joven rico insensato, un hombre que acumuló riquezas terrenales pero descuidó la riqueza que más importa: ser “rico de lo que vale ante Dios.” Qué fácil es dejarse atrapar por la construcción de graneros de comodidad, ambición o control, incluso en nuestra propia vida familiar. Pero el Evangelio nos recuerda: no son las posesiones ni los logros lo que define a una familia, sino la fe, la esperanza, el amor y la decisión diaria de vivir para Cristo. Podemos “revístanse del nuevo yo, el que se va renovando conforme va adquiriendo el conocimiento de Dios, que lo creó a su propia imagen.” En su crianza de los hijos, sus matrimonios y su testimonio ante el mundo, ustedes son signos vivos del Reino. Cuando rezan juntos, se perdonan unos a otros, sirven a los pobres o enseñan la fe a sus hijos, están acumulando tesoros en el cielo. Estas son las riquezas que perduran.

Que encuentres fuerza en tu unidad, esperanza en tus pruebas y alegría en Cristo, que camina con tu familia cada día. Y que la Sagrada Familia —Jesús, María y José— interceda siempre por ti.
