Blessed Sunday to you all!

Would you risk your life to receive the Holy Eucharist? An honest question and something to ponder who we receive at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Is He important in your life to risk it all? The strong tone of our Blessed Lord helps us think about what is important in our lives. "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world."

The severe persecution of the Penal Laws of the 16th-18th century made attending Holy Mass very difficult and life threatening for the Irish Catholics because they experienced a ban on the Holy Mass. Due to the creative nature of the priests, they converted solid rocks to function as the altar to offer clandestine Masses outdoors. This was done with high risk as many would suffer martyrdom if the authorities discovered such a sacred worship for God. The faith of these priests helped keep the faith alive and feed their sheep with the bread of life, the Body and Blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is worth the risk to receive.

One of the highlights of the Ireland pilgrimage was the offering of the Holy Mass on August 4th at a Mass Rock carrying your intentions. The wind, the green, the cows and the shelter of the Mass Rock made for a peaceful and impactful offering to God. My prayer is that we renew our love for the Eucharist and allow the grace to help you worthily receive our Blessed Lord and be drawn to a deeper union with God.

¡Que tengan un bendito domingo!

¿Arriesgarías tu vida para recibir la Sagrada Eucaristía? Una pregunta honesta y algo para reflexionar sobre a quién recibimos en el Santo Sacrificio de la Misa. ¿Es Él importante en tu vida como para arriesgarlo todo? El tono fuerte de nuestro Bendito Señor nos ayuda a pensar en lo que es importante en nuestras vidas. "Yo soy el pan vivo, que ha bajado del cielo; el que coma de este pan vivirá para siempre. Y el pan que yo les voy a dar es mi carne, para que el mundo tenga vida."

La severa persecución de las Leyes Penales del siglo XVI al XVIII hizo que asistir a la Santa Misa fuera muy difícil y amenazante para la vida de los católicos irlandeses porque experimentaron la prohibición de la Santa Misa. Debido a la naturaleza creativa de los sacerdotes, convirtieron rocas sólidas para que funcionaran como altar para ofrecer misas clandestinas al aire libre. Esto se hizo con alto riesgo ya que muchos sufrirían el martirio si las autoridades descubrieran un culto tan sagrado para Dios. La fe de estos sacerdotes ayudó a mantener viva la fe y alimentar a sus ovejas con el pan de vida, el Cuerpo y la Sangre, el alma y la divinidad de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Vale la pena el riesgo para recibirlo.

Uno de los momentos más destacados de la peregrinación a Irlanda fue la ofrenda de la Santa Misa el 4 de agosto en una roca de la Misa en la que se llevaban las intenciones de cada uno. El viento, el verde, las vacas y el refugio de la roca de la Misa crearon una ofrenda pacífica e impactante a Dios. Mi oración es que renovemos nuestro amor por la Eucaristía y permitamos que la gracia les ayude a recibir dignamente a nuestro Bendito Señor y a ser atraídos a una unión más profunda con Dios.
