From Our Parochial Vicor

Hello,

There definitely has been a noticeable change in the weather. I think we are safe to believe that Fall is really here. Of course, there will still be some hot days, but the evenings and mornings are just great. So the seasons change once more.

The same is true for the Church: we can see Advent not too far away now. In fact, the other day I saw a Christmas tree already up in somebody’s house! They are skipping all the secondary holidays and going straight to the source, Christmas. To my taste, though, I wouldn’t want to rush things. There is Halloween, All Saints, (did I mention my birthday), the Eucharistic Procession, Thanksgiving, Advent and the wreath, and then Christmas.

As in life, I don’t want to rush to the winter of my days too fast, or otherwise race to the end. It will come soon enough on its own. But it is nice to see the year as a lead up to Christmas. When the end does come, may it be joyful and mysterious and wonderful. In the Church, then, we have the whole year laid out like a beautifully patterned quilt. Each time and season is duly marked and celebrated, and time is allowed to unfold at its own pace. Throughout the generations, Christians have asked, when Lord? How long to the end?

And the answer is always the same, in God’s time, in God’s time.

God bless,

Fr. Vietor

DEL VICARIO PARROQUIAL

Hola,

Padre Vietor
