Dear Sisters and Brothers,

"Rejoice, Jerusalem, and all who love her. Be joyful, all who were in mourning…" These words are taken from the Entrance Antiphon for Laetare Sunday also known as the Fourth Sunday of Lent.

This Sunday during Lent calls the Church to rejoice and to be joyful. Joy has been my experience throughout my time as your pastor. The people of St. Joan of Arc Parish have shared your hopes and dreams as well as your disappointments and sorrows. We have laughed and cried together. You have seen my weaknesses and limitations. You have always been patient and you have shown me love and appreciation. Through it all, you have taught me how to be a pastor.

I am grateful for the many ways you blessed my life. I take with me so many wonderful memories and blessings. We have prayed many prayers together. We have celebrated new life together as we celebrated the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, First Holy Communion, Reconciliation, Marriage, and Anointing of the Sick. You have let me a part of your families and welcomed me into your homes. You have allowed me to serve you as your priest and as your pastor. I am most grateful to have been your spiritual father and I tried to share to love of Jesus Christ with you.

While there are too many people to thanks individually, I want to express my gratitude to the many parishioners who show up day after day and week after week, offering their time and their talent in humble and heroic ways. You have inspired others want to give more, to serve more, to be all God has called us to be. Your selfless dedication to our parish family has enabled many to call this parish their home. Your desire to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ has given our Bishop the confidence to send several newly ordained priests to this parish. I am proud to have been a part of such a wonderful group of caring people.

I am grateful to the incredible staff of St. Joan of Arc. Most of your work goes on behind the scenes. You have propped me up every moment of my time here. You are some of the most dedicated people I have ever had the privilege to be with. This parish, my priesthood, my life would not be what it is today without the amazing staff that love Our Lord and serve Him so generously.

I have prayed everyday for the last several months that Our Lord would make this transition a peaceful and prayerful one. He has mostly answered that prayer. It is never easy to leave those you love. I hope I have shown you the love of Jesus as you have done so for me. If I have ever offended or hurt anyone during my time as pastor, please know that it was not intentional. I pray this prayer of Mother Teresa, "Pray that I do not ruin God's work!"

I am grateful to God for my incredible family. My loving parents introduced me to Christ and they have never stopped showing me the way. Their presence here has allowed me to go anywhere. When you know you are loved, you are better able to love. Thank you Mom and Dad, for giving me life and love.

I thank God for giving me this chance to serve you as your pastor for nearly 11 years. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

Through the intercession of Our Lady, St. Joan of Arc and with the grace of Our Lord, may we be filled with a spirit of thanksgiving for all God's blessings, so that we may live with the Lord both now and forever. Amen

Hasta que nos encontremos de Nuevo

Queridas hermanas y hermanos:

"Alégrate, Jerusalén, y todos los que la aman. Sé alegre, todos los que estaban de luto ... "Estas palabras se tomaron de la Antífona de Entrada para el domingo de Laetare, también conocido como el Cuarto Domingo de Cuaresma.

Este domingo durante la Cuaresma llama a la Iglesia a regocijarse y alegrarse. La alegría ha sido mi experiencia a lo largo de mi tiempo como tu pastor. La gente de la parroquia de Santa Juana de Arco ha compartido tus esperanzas y sueños, así como tus decepciones y tristezas. Nos hemos reído y llorado juntos. Has visto mis debilidades y limitaciones. Siempre has sido paciente y me has mostrado amor y aprecio. A través de todo, me has enseñado a ser un pastor.

Estoy agradecido por las muchas maneras en que bendijiste mi vida. Me llevo tantos recuerdos y bendiciones maravillosos. Hemos rezado muchas oraciones juntos. Hemos celebrado una nueva vida juntos al celebrar los sacramentos del Bautismo, la Confirmación, la Primera Comunión, la Reconciliación, el Matrimonio y la Unción de los Enfermos. Me dejaron ser una parte de sus familias y me recibieron en sus casas. Me has permitido servirte como tu sacerdote y como tu pastor. Pero estoy muy agradecido de haber sido tu padre espiritual y traté de compartir el amor de Jesucristo contigo.

Mientras hay demasiadas personas que agradecer individualmente, quiero expresar mi gratitud a los muchos feligreses que se presentan día tras día y semana tras semana, ofreciendo su tiempo y su talento de maneras humildes y heroicas. Usted ha inspirado a otros a querer dar más, servir más, a ser todo lo que Dios nos ha llamado a ser. Su dedicación abnegada a nuestra familia parroquial ha permitido a muchos llamar a esta parroquia su hogar. Su deseo de vivir el Evangelio de Jesucristo le ha dado a nuestro Obispo la confianza de mandar a varios sacerdotes recién ordenados a esta parroquia. Estoy orgulloso de haber sido parte de un grupo tan maravilloso de personas bondadosos.

Estoy agradecido al personal increíble de Santa Juana de Arco. La mayor parte de su trabajo continúa detrás de escena. Me has apoyado en cada momento de mi tiempo aquí. Usted es una de las personas más dedicadas con las que he tenido el privilegio de estar con. Esta parroquia, mi sacerdocio, mi vida no sería lo que es hoy sin el personal asombroso que ama a Nuestro Señor y le sirve tan generosamente.

He orado todos los días durante los últimos meses para que Nuestro Señor haga que esta transición sea pacífica y de oración. En su mayoría ha contestado esa oración. Nunca es fácil dejar a los que amas. Espero haberte mostrado el amor de Jesús como lo has hecho por mí. Si alguna vez he ofendido o herido a alguien durante mi tiempo como pastor, tenga en cuenta que no fue intencional. Ruego esta oración de la Madre Teresa: "¡Ore para que no arruine la trabajo de Dios!"

Estoy agradecido a Dios por mi familia increíble. Mis padres amorosos me presentaron a Cristo y nunca dejaron de mostrarme el camino. Su presencia aquí me ha permitido ir a cualquier parte. Cuando sabes que eres amado, eres más capaz de amar. Gracias mamá y papá por darme vida y amor.

Le doy gracias a Dios por darme esta oportunidad de servirle como su pastor durante casi 11 años. Siempre tendrás un lugar especial en mi corazón.

A través de la intercesión de Nuestra Señora, Santa Juana de Arco, y con la gracia de Nuestro Señor, que estemos llenos de un espíritu de acción de gracias por todas las bendiciones de Dios, para que podamos vivir con el Señor ahora y por siempre. Amén.
