SJA Financial Report 2016

10-23-2016Pastor's LetterFr. Don Kline, V.F.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Our Lord has blessed St. Joan of Arc parish with many amazing folks. Specifically, your generosity has enabled our parish debt to be paid down almost $100,000 in one year! Some parishioners have been able to give a bit more so our plate collection and our “Save Our Parish” collections have both increased a bit this year. As a result, we have been able to invest more in our Music, Religious Education and Junior High/High School programs. We have see our parish increase in total numbers of parishioners. There have been some incredible donations from generous individuals of our parish that have enabled us to take care of some much needed maintenance issues.

There have been a number of gifts that have been donated by individual parishioners that we all are able to enjoy. Some thoughtful gifts include: the purchasing and planting of seasonal flowers, several new statues, pedestals for the statues, trellises for our beautiful gardens, outdoor Stations of the Cross, a brick pathway for the Stations of the Cross, a gorgeous monstrance and tabor from Poland for our adoration chapel to go with the new altar, flooring, chairs, and prie-dieus (kneelers) for our St. John Paul II Adoration Chapel. We now have a electronic security door lock, two new security cameras, a Wi-fi technology upgrade, a new phone system, several new computers, over 200 new folding chairs and upgraded lighting. the Ramada was repainted, a TV monitor for the narthex was installed and many of you even contributed to a surgery for my dog Maggie (she is like a new dog!!!) These are just some of the generous ways you have contributed to the building up of St. Joan of Arc parish.

I am grateful for the big and small ways many of you give of yourself in service to one another, to our parish, and to Our Lord. To show our appreciation, St. Joan of Arc is hosting an evening of fun and music at our first annual “Music Festival” on November 4 from 5:30pm to 9:30pm. I personally invite you to come with your whole family to enjoy some good music, food, and fellowship.

This bulletin also contains the 2016 Financial Report for St. Joan of Arc. The report gives important treasure information about the parish. Providing financial support for our parish is another component of Christian stewardship. Because of the rampant consumerism that surrounds us daily, sharing our treasure with the parish may be difficult for some. We are tempted to keep all the money for us and, in the process, become more attached to things. But Matthew 6:19-21 communicates a strong message about what we accumulate in this life: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” Matthew’s message is even stronger in 6:19-21: Jesus said “this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had, her whole livelihood.”

With these words Jesus teaches us that the depth of our generosity is not measured by the size of our gift, but by the size of the heart of the giver. As good stewards we must give back from our “first fruits,” not from what is left over. “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with first fruits of all your produce” (Proverbs 3:9). In honoring Our Lord with your generosity, you will find much peace and God’s reward in this life and in the life to come.

God Bless,

SJA Reporte Financiero 2016

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas,

Dios bendiga,
P. Don Kline,
V.F. Pastor
