What Belongs to God?

Our Lord has told us that we are to "give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God." At least the IRS in our country makes it clear what goes to Caesar – what we owe for taxes.
It's the second half of that, "give to God what belongs to God," that can be the greater challenge. Such giving or stewardship before God is never limited solely to money. Rather, this quality of stewardship means that we offer, as a gift, all that we have received from God. Everything – it all belongs to God. So, what do we do? So how are we supposed to respond to God's generosity?
Stewardship is the name given to what a disciple of Christ does to respond to that question or challenge: We receive God's gifts gratefully, nurture them responsibly, share them justly and charitably and return them abundantly.
Many new families have moved into our parish in the last 10 years. So, you missed our initial opportunities where we explained what stewardship means for you as a Catholic. So, to help you, and because renewal is good for all of us, that's where I'm going to start – at the beginning - as I invite you to enter into our annual stewardship renewal process.
Beginning next week, I will begin a three part series on what you can do to ensure that you are a good steward of the gifts that God has given to you.

¿Qué le pertenece a Dios?
Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo,
Nuestro Señor nos dijo que debemos de darle al "Cesar lo que es del Cesar y a Dios lo que le pertenece a Dios". Por lo menos el IRS de nuestro país, deja muy claro lo que le pertenece al Cesar- esto es lo que debemos de impuestos.
Es la segunda parte de esto "darle a Dios le que le pertenece a Dios", que puede ser un reto más grande. Tal concesión o corresponsabilidad ante Dios no está nunca limitada a solamente el dinero. Por el contrario, esta cualidad de corresponsabilidad significa que ofrecemos como un regalo, todo lo que hemos recibido de Dios. Todo- le pertenece a Dios. Entonces ¿Qué debemos de hacer? ¿Entonces, como debemos de responder a la generosidad de Dios?
Corresponsabilidad es el nombre dado a lo que un discípulo de Cristo hace para responder a la pregunta o reto: Recibimos los dones de Dios con gratitud, los nutrimos responsablemente, los compartimos justamente, y con caridad los devolvemos abundantemente.
Muchas nuevas familias se han movido a nuestra parroquia en estos últimos 10 años. Por lo tanto, se han perdido de las oportunidades iniciales en donde hemos explicado lo que significa la corresponsabilidad para un Católico. Entonces, para ayudarle, y porque la renovación es algo bueno para todos, es ahí en donde voy a comenzar—al principio—Yo los quiero invitar a entrar nuestro proceso anual de renovación de la corresponsabilidad.
A partir de la próxima semana voy a comenzar una serie de tres artículos en lo que pueden hacer para asegurarse que están siendo unos buenos administradores de los dones que Dios les ha dado.
